Clonegal Kildavin Veteran Players group has recently published a book to mark the centenary of the foundation of the Irish state and it focuses on the first hundred years of our independence. The book retails at €12 and is called A Century of Change, (A People's Story). It has contributions from a diverse selection of people including the three major political parties. The contributions include the story of a woman who began her life in Belfast living in a Catholic Family in the heart of a presbyterian enclave while her father worked at Harland and Wolf, to an account of the last case of foot and mouth in Ireland in 1941. There are contributions from the younger generation who are looking at the country we have created in the last hundred years and one in particular deals with our failures in the area of minorities which include people with disabilities, women, LGBTQ and members of the travelling community.
The book will be of interest to anyone who has an opinion on the political, social and economic evolution of this country.
